Lapped Dovetail Practise Pack (Poplar & Ash)

Poplar is one of the best materials to practise on for many reasons: it’s soft enough to make cutting and chiselling easy, yet hard and structural enough to prevent crumbling, much like softwoods such as pine are prone to. 

Ash in comparison is quite hard. The reason we have included this is because its relative hardness will allow the Poplar to slightly compress as it's pressed into the sockets, and additionally Ash is resistant to splitting. Both properties of which give you a little more wiggle room if your joint is slightly too tight.

These components are provided at 75mm wide (3”) and are perfectly square right out of the box. Meaning you can get to work practising without the faff.
