Tesa

Tesa 4334 Sensitive Veneer Tape (50m - 19mm)

Tesa 4334 Sensitive Veneer Tape (50m - 19mm)

Exclusively for Cold Pressing

If you are working exclusively with cold presses when veneering, and looking for a cost-effective alternative to the premium 7133, Tesa 4334 is an excellent choice.

The 4334 features high elasticity, allowing you to stretch the tape across a seam so the tension physically pulls the veneer pieces together for a tight join.

Note on Versatility: While primarily a veneer tape, the 4334 can also be used for masking the inside of joints to prevent glue squeeze-out, similar to the 4333. However, keep in mind that its higher tackiness means it is more likely to leave a slight residue or marks on pre-finished surfaces compared to its lower-tack sibling.

  • Best for: Budget-friendly cold press veneering and figured woods.
  • Key Feature: High elasticity for "tension-pulling" veneer seams.

Matt's Honest Take

Long gone are the days where craftspeople had no choice but to use water activated veneer tape, which raised the grain and would introduce moisture that often buckled highly figured veneers.

This tape is a modern solution that I use exclusively for all my veneering. While the 7133 tape tends to be better at leaving absolutely zero residue, and can be used when hot pressing veneers, this 4334 is a much more cost effective solution for people exclusively doing cold presses.

Also, if I run out of 4333 sensitive tape, I sometimes use this as an alternative. Just be cautious using it on pre-finished surfaces as it’s a little bit tackier.
