The Latest Supplier Email
GOOD NEWS!
The leadwood has made it back onto the open water and might actually get to the UK on the 14th of January.
We don't want to get our hopes up too much, but this is the best news we've received about the leadwood in months.
If the wood gets to the UK by the 14th it may be in the workshop by the 10th (notice how many chances there are for things not to go in our favour).
If the leadwood arrives we'll begin turning and producing the mallets immediately. With the aim to begin dispatching to the first groups of mallet orders by mid-late February.
It's worth reiterating that this is all speculation with a sprinkling of hope. But we have all our fingers crossed that we'll see some movement on the mallet production very soon.

Of course, if you've been following the progress of the mallets so far you'll already know that the leadwood has been the biggest issue for us and the situation has yet to change.
Our leadwood is travelling from Mozambique and as the news will have told you, there's been a lot of unrest in the country and it's proved challenging for the import/export industry in the area.
However, we have had an update from our supplier.
The wood has made it from Mozambique to the next port in South Africa and the supplier has been informed that the wood should be in the UK mid-January. With that being said, the supplier has told us that late-January is more likely.
Unfortunately we're very limited in regards to what we can do.
There are no other leadwood suppliers in the UK with the quantity of 3" blocks that we need and Mozambique is really the only place you can get leadwood in the first place.
While we're not going to get our expectations up for a delivery in January, it's clear that there is movement on the leadwood and it will get to us eventually.

Next step for these little beauties is to begin engraving the signature into the top faces!
The rod underneath the coin is designed to create a tighter fit within the mallet handle and increase the surface area for gluing.

Here's the latest batch of coins to engraved through our fiber laser!
While they look a little rough around the edges now, the next step is to take them to the abrasive wheel, then the polishing wheel and then finally hand buffing the coins to their final finish.
It's a process, but it's worth it!
