Cork Rubber Sheet

Cork Rubber Sheet

This material, commonly used for gaskets and orthopaedic insoles, is great for lining vices and other clamps with. Providing maximum grip, without the crumbliness associated with normal cork.

Unlike rubber, it also doesn't mark or stain woods with greasy impressions. It's also very easy to cut with a knife, is easy to apply, and will last for years before needing replacing.

We personally recommend using double sided tape to apply the sheet to vice jaws and clamps to avoid any mess. But you can also use contact glue if you want something more permanent.

Matt's Honest Take

When I made Bertha back in 2016, I applied this stuff to the inside of my leg vice. Despite using the vice on a daily basis, the material held up for nearly a decade before needing to be replaced. The grip it provides is insane, which means you don't need to crank down on your vice as often, and there's no risk of your work being damaged.
