Terms of Service
Effective Date: 24 August 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of mattestlea.com and purchases made from Estlea Creative Limited, trading as Matt Estlea.
Please read these Terms before using our website, purchasing a product, downloading digital content or booking an in-person course.
Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

2. Acceptance of These Terms
By using our website or purchasing products, digital content or services from us, you agree to these Terms of Service.
Additional terms may apply to particular promotions, courses, products or services. Where additional terms apply, they will be brought to your attention before purchase where appropriate.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use our website or purchase from us.
3. Eligibility and Customer Responsibilities
You must provide accurate and complete information when placing an order, creating an account or booking a course.
You are responsible for ensuring that:
-
your contact, billing and delivery information is correct;
-
the products you purchase are suitable for your intended use;
-
you comply with applicable laws and regulations in your location; and
-
you use our products responsibly and in accordance with any relevant instructions.
4. Customer Accounts
You may be able to create a customer account through our website.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials and for activity carried out through your account.
Please contact us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
We may suspend or restrict an account where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, misuse of our services or breach of these Terms.
5. Products and Product Information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, specifications, dimensions, prices and other information on our website are accurate.
However, minor variations may occur.
Handmade and Natural Materials
Many Matt Estlea products are handmade or made using natural materials such as timber.
Natural materials vary from piece to piece, so characteristics such as:
-
grain;
-
figure;
-
colour;
-
tone;
-
texture;
-
markings; and
-
other natural features
may differ from photographs or examples shown on our website.
Handmade products may also have reasonable variations in dimensions, weight, finish or appearance where stated on the relevant product page.
These natural and handmade variations are not necessarily defects.
Where an individual product is separately photographed or described, those photographs and specifications are intended to represent that particular item as accurately as reasonably possible.
6. Prices and VAT
Prices displayed to customers in the United Kingdom include UK VAT where applicable.
Prices shown to customers in other countries may be displayed differently depending on destination, tax treatment and website settings.
Delivery charges and any applicable taxes or charges will be shown during checkout where possible.
International customers may also be responsible for import taxes, duties or other charges as explained in our separate Shipping Policy.
7. Placing an Order
When you submit an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products or services shown in your order.
Receiving an automated order confirmation does not mean that we have accepted your order. It confirms that we have received it.
For physical goods, a contract between you and Estlea Creative Limited is formed when we dispatch your order and send confirmation of dispatch.
Payment may be authorised or collected before dispatch.
For digital products or services that are supplied immediately, the contract may begin when we accept payment and make the relevant digital content or service available to you.
8. When We May Refuse or Cancel an Order
We may refuse or cancel an order before it has been accepted where reasonably necessary, including where:
-
a product is unexpectedly unavailable;
-
there is an obvious pricing or product-information error;
-
payment cannot be authorised;
-
we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse;
-
we cannot legally supply or ship the product to your destination;
-
a carrier cannot provide the necessary service;
-
you have breached these Terms; or
-
another circumstance outside our reasonable control prevents us from fulfilling the order.
If we cancel an order after taking payment, we will refund the relevant amount paid.
We will not use this right in a way that unfairly removes rights you already have under an accepted contract.
9. Payment
Payments are processed through Shopify and supported third-party payment providers.
Available payment methods may vary according to your location and may include credit and debit cards, Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay and other supported providers.
Your payment provider may have separate terms and privacy policies that apply to your transaction.
10. Delivery and Shipping
Shipping destinations, processing times, tracking, delivery estimates, customs charges and other delivery information are governed by our separate Shipping Policy.
All physical orders we dispatch are sent using a tracked delivery service.
Delivery times are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise.
Delays caused by customs, carriers, severe weather or other circumstances outside our reasonable control may occasionally occur.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
11. Returns, Refunds and Exchanges
Returns, refunds, damaged products and exchanges are governed by our separate Returns and Refund Policy.
We offer a voluntary 30-day returns policy on eligible physical products in addition to applicable statutory rights.
Certain products, including personalised or engraved products, may have different change-of-mind return conditions.
Nothing in these Terms or our Returns and Refund Policy limits your statutory rights relating to faulty, damaged, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming products.
12. Digital Products and Woodworking Plans
Digital content sold through Matt Estlea, including woodworking plans, documents, templates and other downloadable materials, is supplied under a licence rather than transferring ownership of our intellectual property.
Unless we expressly state otherwise, digital products are licensed for personal, non-commercial use only.
You may download and use purchased digital products for your own personal use.
You may not:
-
redistribute or share the digital files with another person;
-
upload the files to another website, platform, file-sharing service or server;
-
sell or resell the files;
-
reproduce the files for distribution;
-
make the files publicly available;
-
modify the files for the purpose of redistributing or reselling them;
-
remove copyright, branding or proprietary notices; or
-
use the files or designs commercially without our written permission.
Purchasing a woodworking plan does not grant permission to manufacture products commercially from that design unless we expressly provide such permission.
Unauthorised distribution of purchased digital content may result in termination of the licence and may infringe our intellectual property rights.
Your statutory rights in relation to faulty digital content remain unaffected.
13. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the content available through mattestlea.com is owned by or licensed to Estlea Creative Limited.
This may include:
-
text;
-
photographs;
-
graphics;
-
logos;
-
branding;
-
product designs;
-
woodworking plans;
-
illustrations;
-
videos;
-
downloadable files;
-
website content; and
-
other original materials.
Our intellectual property may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, sold, published or commercially exploited without our prior permission, except where permitted by law or by a specific licence we provide.
Normal personal browsing, sharing links to our public website and other ordinary lawful uses are permitted.
14. Woodworking and Tool Safety
Woodworking involves inherent risks.
Hand tools, power tools, machinery, blades, cutting tools and woodworking processes can cause serious injury if used incorrectly.
Information provided through our website, products, plans, videos, courses and other educational material is intended to provide general woodworking education and guidance.
You are responsible for:
-
assessing whether a technique or tool is appropriate for your experience and circumstances;
-
following manufacturer safety instructions;
-
using appropriate personal protective equipment;
-
maintaining tools and machinery appropriately;
-
ensuring guards and safety equipment are used where required;
-
maintaining a safe working environment; and
-
seeking appropriate training or professional guidance where necessary.
Educational content is not a substitute for proper training, manufacturer instructions or a suitable risk assessment.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful for us to do so.
15. In-Person Woodworking Courses
These Terms also apply to woodworking courses and other in-person training provided by Matt Estlea.
Bookings
A course booking is subject to availability and is confirmed when we accept your booking and payment.
You are responsible for providing accurate contact information and arriving at the location at the date and time specified for your course.
Course Content
We may make reasonable adjustments to:
-
course schedules;
-
teaching order;
-
projects;
-
materials;
-
instructors; or
-
other practical elements
where necessary to provide the course effectively.
Any changes will not materially reduce the overall service you have purchased without an appropriate remedy being offered.
Safety During Courses
Participants must follow reasonable workshop safety instructions provided by the instructor.
We may ask a participant to stop using equipment or following a particular process if we reasonably believe that continuing would create an unacceptable safety risk.
Serious or repeated disregard of safety instructions may result in removal from the workshop where reasonably necessary to protect the participant or others.
Course Cancellations and Changes
Any specific cancellation, transfer or rescheduling terms provided when booking a course will form part of your booking terms.
Where we need to cancel or materially reschedule a course, we will contact affected customers and provide an appropriate option, which may include rescheduling or a refund.
Your statutory rights relating to services remain unaffected.
16. Reviews and User-Submitted Content
You may be able to submit reviews, comments, photographs, messages or other content to us.
You retain ownership of content you create.
When you submit content for publication, you grant Estlea Creative Limited a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display and publish that content for purposes connected with our website, products and marketing.
This licence does not transfer ownership of your content to us.
You must not submit material that:
-
infringes another person's intellectual property rights;
-
is unlawful;
-
is fraudulent or deliberately misleading;
-
contains malicious software;
-
contains confidential information you do not have permission to disclose; or
-
is abusive, threatening or otherwise unlawful.
We may moderate or remove submitted content where reasonably necessary.
17. Promotions and Discount Codes
From time to time, we may offer promotions, discounts or promotional codes.
These may:
-
apply only to selected products;
-
require a minimum spend;
-
operate for a limited period;
-
be restricted to certain customers or locations; or
-
have other clearly stated conditions.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, discount codes cannot be combined with other promotional codes or offers.
We may withdraw or correct a promotion where there has been an obvious error, fraud, misuse or technical problem, provided doing so does not unlawfully affect an order that has already been accepted.
18. Website Availability
We aim to keep our website available and functioning correctly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
We may temporarily restrict access for:
-
maintenance;
-
security;
-
technical problems;
-
updates; or
-
circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We are not responsible for temporary website interruptions that are outside our reasonable control.
19. Accuracy of Website Information
We make reasonable efforts to keep the information on our website accurate and current.
Occasional typographical, technical, pricing or photographic errors may occur.
Where we discover an error affecting an order, we will take reasonable steps to notify you and resolve the situation fairly.
We may update website content, product information and specifications from time to time.
20. Third-Party Links and Services
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or use services operated by third parties.
We do not control independent third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
The inclusion of a link does not necessarily mean that we endorse everything contained on that website.
Third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
21. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
-
death or personal injury caused by negligence where liability cannot legally be excluded;
-
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
-
your statutory rights as a consumer;
-
faulty or misdescribed goods where the law provides a remedy;
-
digital content that does not meet applicable legal standards; or
-
services that are not performed with the standard required by applicable law.
Subject to those protections, we are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have anticipated when the contract was formed or losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
If you purchase from us as a consumer, we are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profits, revenue, contracts or business opportunities resulting from your use of a product purchased primarily for personal purposes.
22. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform our obligations where caused by events outside our reasonable control.
These may include:
-
postal or courier disruption;
-
customs delays;
-
severe weather;
-
natural disasters;
-
industrial action;
-
transport disruption;
-
interruptions to utilities or communications;
-
government restrictions; or
-
other similar events.
Where such an event affects an accepted order or service, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the impact and communicate with affected customers where appropriate.
This does not remove any statutory rights you may have.
23. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is explained in our separate Privacy Policy.
Our use of cookies and similar technologies is also described there and through the cookie controls available on our website.
24. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in:
-
our products and services;
-
our business practices;
-
our website;
-
technology; or
-
applicable laws and regulations.
Changes will apply from the date the revised Terms are published.
Updates will not retrospectively remove contractual or statutory rights relating to orders already accepted.
25. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
26. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, or in another jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer laws apply to your purchase, you may also benefit from protections provided by those laws.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to prevent a consumer from bringing a claim in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable consumer law.
