Introducing our Mitre Paring Blocks. These parers were made in Grey while we had a temporary pinch in Black coloured filament. They are still fully functional and still come in a foam box.
Made from Carbon Fibre reinforced material, these blocks are designed to make chiselling mitred dovetails a breeze. All you need is a clamp and a sharp chisel.

These are produced in 5 sizes which areoptimised*for the following material thicknesses:
Extra Small: 6mm - 9mm 1/4" - 3/8"
Small: 9mm - 12mm 3/8" - 1/2"
Medium: 12mm - 15mm 1/2" - 5/8"
Large: 15mm - 18mm 5/8" - 3/4"
Extra Large: 18mm+ 3/4"+
This paring block will fit clamp heads up to 40mm (1 9/16") in width
* Please note that you can still use a smaller block for thick material. However you may lack support at the bottom of the mitre. You can also use a large block for thin material, but you will need to hang the block off the edge of a surface to clamp the material adequatly.

Lie-Nielsen chisel protrusion guide
Brilliant idea and just makes it so easy to set the chisel protrusion. After having the Veritas guide and it’s fiddly attachment, I now use a Lie-Nielsen with this, the results are consistent and quick.
As expected, the week with Matt and the team was superb! Excellent teaching from Matt and the whole team was friendly and made everyone feel at home.
Matt balanced teaching and allowing everyone to work and discover independently brilliantly, with the whole group being able to work at a pace that suits them. The advice and support throughout the week made this course more valuable than just a single project, but with things that we could take for all of our future woodworking projects.

An excellent week of woodworking.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Matt is a natural teacher and gave each individual as much assistance as they needed, but without ever being intrusive.
Most people took the opportunity to ask him about things beyond the course itself, such as which tools to buy and how to refine their sharpening technique, and Matt was more than happy to share his knowledge and opinions.
All materials for the box are provided, however I decided to swap out the standard hinges for the SmartHinges featured in Episode 6 of the Keepsake Box series on Matt's Free Online Woodworking School YouTube channel. If you want to go on the course and do this, you will need to buy them in advance and Matt will be happy to guide you through their installation.
The best aspect of the course for me was being able to spend a whole week working on something I enjoy in the company of people with similar interests. Three of us were staying at the very nice Furze Inn, just up the road from Matt's workshop, so we met for drinks and food in the evenings. I thought of it more as a holiday than a course.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to improve their woodworking skills, and I am hoping Matt will lay on future courses to build other items, so I will have opportunities to go on more woodworking holidays!
