A precisely machined Ash Picture Frame Profile for making smaller custom wooden frames. The 20mm face gives the frame a clean proportion, while the 7mm-deep ledge provides room for the Picture Frame Acrylic, picture, border and Picture Frame Backboard stack.
Select the number of lengths required for your frame-making project.
I love it. It's actually a little bigger and more substantial than I expected which is good. I gave the honor of first use to my son when he marked and cut his first dovetail. You might recognize some elements in the attached photo. We have the knife in front of a small thin panel in some clamps (You might even be able to make out the Idiot's Triangle). Then we have the clamping blocks, a dovetail he cut and all the little cutout pegs, marked with the knife.
Brilliant idea and just makes it so easy to set the chisel protrusion. After having the Veritas guide and it’s fiddly attachment, I now use a Lie-Nielsen with this, the results are consistent and quick.
As expected, the week with Matt and the team was superb! Excellent teaching from Matt and the whole team was friendly and made everyone feel at home.
Matt balanced teaching and allowing everyone to work and discover independently brilliantly, with the whole group being able to work at a pace that suits them. The advice and support throughout the week made this course more valuable than just a single project, but with things that we could take for all of our future woodworking projects.
Great set beautifully presented with clear instructions. Excellent value for money.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Matt is a natural teacher and gave each individual as much assistance as they needed, but without ever being intrusive.
Most people took the opportunity to ask him about things beyond the course itself, such as which tools to buy and how to refine their sharpening technique, and Matt was more than happy to share his knowledge and opinions.
All materials for the box are provided, however I decided to swap out the standard hinges for the SmartHinges featured in Episode 6 of the Keepsake Box series on Matt's Free Online Woodworking School YouTube channel. If you want to go on the course and do this, you will need to buy them in advance and Matt will be happy to guide you through their installation.
The best aspect of the course for me was being able to spend a whole week working on something I enjoy in the company of people with similar interests. Three of us were staying at the very nice Furze Inn, just up the road from Matt's workshop, so we met for drinks and food in the evenings. I thought of it more as a holiday than a course.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to improve their woodworking skills, and I am hoping Matt will lay on future courses to build other items, so I will have opportunities to go on more woodworking holidays!
