Turns out I overordered on material when making workbenches for our courses held at the workshop... by a rather large margin.
Seeing as we don't have space for them here and they're effectively 'prototypes', we're getting rid of them at a heavily discounted rate.
The top is 40mm thick solid beech, 1340mm wide, 640mm deep. This is an ideal material for workbenches thanks to its hardness and close grain, which prevents it getting as dirty. The underframe is made from African Walnut, mostly for the looks.
The workbench features a massive Quick Release Vice with a 330mm deep clamping capacity with a 300mm wide jaw. Most notably, the vice is installed flush with the face of the bench which makes clamping longer boards far easier. This is also why the worktop is flush with the faceframe, which is a feature many premium workbench designers still miss. The depth of the vice from the worktop to the bars is 140mm. But there's plenty of overhang either side to accomodate longer boards.
Along the top are 100mm spaced 3/4" (19mm) dog holes which can accomodate most workbench hardware. I can also drill more around the bench upon request. These dog holes can be used with the Veritas Wonder Pup (or similar) to mimic the functionality of a tail vice. Please note that three of these dog holes above the vice are blind holes, so will need to be vacuumed occasionally.
Collection from RG20 only, or feel free to organise your own third party pick up. We can palletise upon request.
