Just wanted to post my latest design for my moxon vise build I've got coming up made from ash.
I have included dog holes as a way of using it to hold timber while I work on the face. I have plans to build a workbench, plans that were delayed due to COVID19 so my patience has run out and I'm settling my craving for now with this vise build.
Has anyone built one yet?
Has anyone got any advice / improvments before I build?
I'm using York moxon hardware from workshop heaven, I'd absolutely love benchcrafted but jeeeeze its spenny!
I'm making mine out of beech. For the hardware, I purchased most of it from Berger.co.uk. I need to ream out the handwheels to fit the M20 threaded rod and I purchased some spherical washers (male/female) for the front vice to allow movement for tapered items. Doing it this way halves the cost. Just waiting on the beech to arrive then I will get started. Have you checked out the Katz-Moses channel on youtube he has two videos on building a Moxon vice depending on budget? Worth a look.
